SLR International Corporation is seeking a Principal Level Consultant to join our growing environmental and advisory solutions team in Seattle, Washington. The qualified candidate will have experience in one or more of the following areas of expertise: environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance, environmental permitting, assessment and remediation of contaminated soil, groundwater, and/or sediments, and regulatory closure of contaminated sites.

Key functions in this role include developing business, managing deliverables to clients and management team, and oversight of projects. As a Principal-level employee, candidates should be prepared to coordinate staff assignments, mentor and develop junior staff, and participate in company growth in a hands-on leadership capacity. Successful candidates will demonstrate outstanding client networking and relationship building skills, backed by a proven reputation for providing highest quality service to clients in the Pacific Northwest market, particularly Washington.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build relationships with clients that result in sustained growth
  • Achieve business financial targets
  • Manage overall project/program budgets and schedules, client satisfaction/expectations, and internal and contract requirements
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of project management and effective delegation and oversight of group or program tasks and goals
  • Provide final senior review of technical or promotional communications prepared by others, and demonstrate capabilities and experience with regulators including negotiations related to client work scopes
  • Promote cross-selling
  • Effectively mentor and develop junior staff

Technical Skills/Experience:

  • A minimum of 15 years professional experience in the areas of expertise listed above
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing consulting assignments, working directly with clients and attorneys, and negotiating with regulatory agencies.
  • Capable of managing a variety of project deliverables with varying timelines
  • Proven project management experience from proposal stage to completion to include establishing scopes and project budgets, client communications, managing deliverables, and coordinating project teams
  • Successful business development experience in Washington, including with attorneys
  • Proven experience managing a team of diverse professionals
  • Skill in budgeting and goal-setting for a group
  • Previous experience with a small to midsize consultancy is appreciated


  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering, Physical Science, or related field required
  • OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER
  • In-depth understanding of consulting
  • Strong client network is essential to success
  • Ability to travel by airplane and car including overnight travel
  • Valid driver's license required
