Synopsis

SLR International Corporation is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer with 4 to 7 years of experience to join our office in Irvine, California. This full-time, permanent position is within SLR's Geotechnical Engineering group and will provide opportunities to work on various engineering projects with a diverse client base.

Qualified candidates will have a strong, relevant academic background, a desire to work in consulting, and geotechnical and/or civil engineering experience within an industrial setting (mining, waste management, landfills, harbors, etc.).  The successful candidate will possess, at minimum, a Bachelor's of Science degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, with preference given to candidates with an advanced degree.

Qualified candidates in Portland (OR), Denver (CO), and Seattle (WA) areas are also encouraged to apply.

Required Technical Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering
  • Must be a licensed Professional Engineer, or have EIT certification (Engineer-In-Training) at minimum
  • 4 to 7 years of previous industrial geotechnical engineering experience
  • Knowledge of field investigation methods and construction methods
  • Experience with grading plan, design of earth-structures (embankment, dams, levees, etc.), and slope stability analyses of natural and made slopes
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Ability to travel by car, rental car, and airplane including overnight travel

Preferred Technical Skills and Experience

  • Master's of Science degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering
  • Knowledge of seismic design
  • Strong understanding of Federal & State environmental regulatory programs
  • Proficient with AutoCAD
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification

Responsibilities

  • Work with clients and SLR staff to complete various engineering projects
  • Perform project work, including, but not limited to design of grading plans, landfill features, hydrology analysis, mine tailings, and mining related dams
  • Successfully complete project tasks and achieve company goals with some assistance from senior management
  • Provide technical support for business proposals
  • Communicate and interface directly with clients
