Synopsis

SLR International Corporation is seeking a Project-level Scientist or Engineer with 4-12 years' experience to join our Fairbanks, Alaska operations. The position is a full time, permanent position, supporting our air quality, water, wastewater, spill plans, and land quality work load.  Preferred candidates will have experience in consulting and/or industry, preferably focused on Alaska projects. The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's of Science in environmental engineering or environmental sciences, and preference will be given to candidates with an advanced degree.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or equivalent
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills
  • Working knowledge of permitting regulations
  • Possess valid driver's license and good driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in technical writing
  • Experience in one or more of the following: air quality, water, wastewater, spill plans, or land quality (groundwater, surface water, and soil sampling; hazardous materials surveys and sampling; and/or groundwater and contaminant transport modeling software)
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of Alaska resource development facilities and operations desirable
  • Alaska resident

Physical Demands

Position is office-based, but field work and travel may be required as part of this position.  With or without reasonable accommodation, employees may be required to perform the following activities:

  • Work in extreme environmental conditions, including an Arctic environment
  • Work and stay for extended periods in work camp environments
  • Travel in small aircraft, including helicopters, to remote locations
  • Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, fine discriminate detail, and depth perception
  • Frequently required to walk or climb stairs
  • Climb a ladder
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Handle large items
  • Lift and/or move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
