Synopsis

SLR International Corporation is seeking a Project Scientist or Engineer to join our growing Anchorage, Alaska operations. The position is a full-time, permanent position supporting our Air Quality work load in the area of air quality and meteorological monitoring services.  Successful candidates will have at least 3 years of previous work experience working in air quality or meteorological monitoring. Candidates will be expected to support various projects in Alaska. Field work and travel at all times of year will be a significant part of this opportunity. Preference will be given to candidates with advanced degree, experience operating and maintaining air quality monitoring equipment, previous environmental consulting experience, and to those who demonstrate familiarity with local and regional travel and shipping logistics.

Required Technical Skills and Experience

  • B.S. in Atmospheric Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Physics or equivalent scientific field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in air quality and/or meteorological monitoring
  • Experience conducting PM10, PM2.5, NOx, SO2, CO, O3, CEMS, or meteorological monitoring for regulatory purposes is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems, telemetry and remote field monitoring systems
  • Ability to test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical systems
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting regulatory requirements and guidance
  • Knowledge of industrial facility operations and safety protocols desirable
  • Proven analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to travel by airplane, helicopter, and car, including overnight travel
  • Ability to be in the field working for up to 2 consecutive weeks at a time
  • Possess valid driver's license and good driving record
